Centered around a week-long event in Hawaii, POW! WOW! has grown into a global network of artists and organizes gallery shows, lecture series, schools for art and music, mural projects, a large creative space named Lana Lane Studios, concerts, and live art installations across the globe. The central event takes place during Valentine’s Day week in February in the Kaka’ako district of Honolulu, and brings over a hundred international and local artist together to create murals and other forms of art.
My latest series of works have been focusing composition. I spent a lot of time looking at geometric patterns and abstract shapes, particularly the work of Dutch artist Mondrian, his bold colours and the thick black lines which divide his canvases. This abstract artist inspired the recent mural for the Living Walls project this year in Atlanta USA. For Print Them All, I adapted this concept for “Composition with Red Blue and Yellow” combining the elegant simplicity of geometric abstraction with the whimsy of my subjects as they climb through the composition like a playground
