Lithuania, Vilnius 2013

A building with a controversial past; this is the 'Lietuva' (Lithuania) cinema which was painted in conjunction with Vilnius Street Art Festival 2013.

This is one of the last independent cinemas in the city and a few years back was set for demolition to make way for a high priced condominium development. Protesters have kept them at bay but while abandoned it became a hot spot for local graffiti artists and political activists.

Years on, the building has been buffed and re marketed. The Vilnius Street Art festival got a chance to drop a final tribute to this iconic spot before it disappears forever. That being said, public outrage continues to keep its fate in limbo!
